FOI Ref: FOI/2022/4435

You asked

I am interested in collecting some data via an FOI of police forces on the number of reports of sexual harassment/sexual assault/sexual misconduct/sexual violence that occur in the NHS ie the victim or the accused is an NHS employee, patient or visitor to NHS premises, and what happens to them – how many are formally investigated and the outcomes, etc

Thank you for your request.

We publish figures on the levels and trends of crime in England and Wales primarily based on two sets of crime statistics: the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and police recorded crime data.

Although the ONS publishes data on victim-perpetrator relationship for rape and assault by penetration from the CSEW which can be found in our recent sexual offence's publication: Sexual offences in England and Wales overview: year ending March 2020, we do not hold the sexual offences data you require.

However, as the Home Office is responsible for the collection of police recorded crime statistics, they may hold the information on the sexual offences you require. They can be contacted at the following email address: crimeandpolicestats@homeoffice.gov.uk.
