Our data sources have different geographical coverage and data collection periods, so please make comparisons with caution. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic may have also affected data collection and statistics.

We are moving from updating the UK Measures of National Well-being (UKMNW) Dashboard quarterly to updating it annually, starting in May 2026. Additionally, we are developing a smaller set of measures and will publish it quarterly from November 2025. Our quarterly data-only personal well-being publications will remain unchanged.

These upcoming changes align with our strategic business plan for 2025 to 2026 and allow us to focus our resources more effectively.

We hope that this revised approach will better balance stakeholder needs for a timely and comprehensive assessment of national progress and well-being.

Changes in estimates are displayed over the short term. This is defined as the latest estimate compared with five years ago for Protected areas, Priority species, Air pollution and Surface water status. Short-term change for all other measures is assessed as the latest estimate compared with one year ago.
