These estimates are of the usually resident population, resident in households i.e. excluding people in communal establishments. They are therefore a useful population for weighting and calibrating social surveys where communal establishments are not part of the sample. They are derived by deflating population estimates and projections with 2011 Census data. The dataset contains data for 2019 to 2022 from a combination of official and experimental estimates and projections and including the latest Census 2021 data where available (England, Wales and Northern Ireland).
The tables in this release include population data by age band and sex for English regions, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
