This dataset contains further data relating to our publication Impact of health conditions requiring hospitalisation on earnings, employment and benefits receipt, England: April 2014 to December 2022 released on 25 June 2025, with further breakdowns of both condition and benefits type. It contains descriptive statistics and model estimates for the change in earnings, probability of being a paid employee and probability of receipt of benefits attributable to having a specific cancer (plus chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and ischemic heart disease), compared with a reference period before the hospital admission.
This dataset includes breakdowns by sex and age at hospital diagnosis for the following outcomes of: pay, pay among people in employment, probability of being in employment, probability of receipt of benefits (Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Carer's Allowance or any type of benefits), probability of receipt of benefits among employed for each of hospital diagnosis.
