Dataset(s): Crime in England and Wales: coronavirus (COVID-19) and crime tables

Information from a new module of questions included in the Telephone-operated Crime Survey for England and Wales (TCSEW) around perceptions of crime, the police and anti-social behaviour during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, feelings of safety and experiences of harassment. Data on children’s online activity are also presented. These tables are no longer produced.

Provides files to download data as it existed for this dataset on previous dates.

Statistics are most often revised for 1 of 2 reasons:

  1. For certain statistics initial estimates are released with the expectation that these may be revised and updated as further data becomes available.
  2. Revisions may also be made when methods or systems are changed.

These types of planned revisions should not be confused with errors in released statistics, which are genuine mistakes. Such mistakes occur rarely and, when they do happen, corrections are made in a timely manner, announced and clearly explained to users in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (Principle 2, Practice 7).

Table 3 - An amendment has been made to the "worried about crime" and "worried about fraud" categories due to an error in the ordering of the categories. Table 5 - A correction has been made to the unweighted bases in Table 5. A small linking error occurred resulting in incorrect unweighted bases being presented for the "following negative experiences while outside of home" section of the table.
