Provides files to download data as it existed for this dataset on previous dates.

Statistics are most often revised for 1 of 2 reasons:

  1. For certain statistics initial estimates are released with the expectation that these may be revised and updated as further data becomes available.
  2. Revisions may also be made when methods or systems are changed.

These types of planned revisions should not be confused with errors in released statistics, which are genuine mistakes. Such mistakes occur rarely and, when they do happen, corrections are made in a timely manner, announced and clearly explained to users in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (Principle 2, Practice 7).

A lot of minor errors in these historic child mortality datasets have been identified and corrected since 2018 as detailed below. As a result, the processing and quality assurance used in production of these statistics has now been overhauled, including increased automation of production code and checks. 2017: Neonatal mortality rate for males in Northern Ireland was incorrectly reported as 2.9 rather than 2.8 in Table 2, which has been corrected (4 July 2019). Other small errors occurred in Tables 11, 12 and 13 which have been corrected (11 Feb 2020). 2016: Due to a manual processing error, the under 1 day figure and 1 day and under 1 week figure in Table 16 have been corrected (12 July 2018). Due to a processing error, the stillbirth, early neonatal, neonatal, postneonatal and infant death figures by ONS cause groups have been corrected (28 May 2019). The early neonatal, neonatal, post-neonatal and infant death figures by birthweight, type of registration and socio-economic classification in Table 12 has been corrected due to a processing error (16 June 2019). 2015: Corrections have been made to this data year as per those for the 2016 data year above (same errors which were corrected at the same times) 2014: Due to a processing error, the stillbirth, early neonatal, neonatal, postneonatal and infant death figures by ONS cause groups have been corrected (28 May 2019). The early neonatal, neonatal, post-neonatal and infant death figures by birthweight, type of registration and socio-economic classification in Table 12 has been corrected due to a processing error (16 June 2019). 2013: The early neonatal, neonatal, post-neonatal and infant death figures by birthweight, type of registration and socio-economic classification in Table 12 has been corrected due to a processing error (16 June 2019). 2012: Corrections have been made to this data year as per those for the 2013 data year above (same error which was corrected at the same time) We apologise for any inconvenience.
