These tables present the number of deaths registered in the North and South of England over the period 1981 to 2016. Numbers of deaths are presented for all causes and select causes: Accidents, Alcohol related; Cardiovascular; Diabetes; Drug-related; Obesity; Suicide, Malignant neoplasms (excluding Breast cancer) and Breast cancer. Figures are also broken down by sex and five year age band.
This is a revision to a previous publication, Table Ref 007337 (published 10th August 2017). Please note the revisions made have been requested by the customer and the figures for accidental deaths, drug related deaths and alcohol related deaths are not based on standard ONS definitions. Details can be found in the definition tab in the excel file.
