This file contains the number of deaths from all causes and where the underlying cause was cardiovascular disease, diabetes, accidental, alcohol related, drug poisoning or suicide (separate figures for each cause). Figures are based on death registrations between 1981 and 2015, except for drug related poisoning deaths for which data are available from 1993 onwards. The file also contains the number of deaths where obesity was either the underlying cause of death, or mentioned as a contributory factor - there are issues surrounding the recording of obesity deaths which are highlighted in the definition page.
