Statistics are most often revised for 1 of 2 reasons:

  1. For certain statistics initial estimates are released with the expectation that these may be revised and updated as further data becomes available.
  2. Revisions may also be made when methods or systems are changed.

These types of planned revisions should not be confused with errors in released statistics, which are genuine mistakes. Such mistakes occur rarely and, when they do happen, corrections are made in a timely manner, announced and clearly explained to users in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (Principle 2, Practice 7).

We have corrected a presentation error in our UK Economic Accounts datasets, affecting editions from July to September 2021 to January to March 2025. The previous versions of tables 3.1.7, 3.2.7, 4.3.8a, and 4.3.11a used the incorrect series. Table 3.1.7 now uses the correct series for dataset identifiers FV2W and FV2X. Table 3.2.7 now uses the correct series for dataset identifiers FV2S and FV2T. Dataset identifiers FZRQ, FZRS and FZMB have been moved from Table 4.3.8a to Table 4.3.8. Dataset identifiers FZOL, FZOO, and M9TK have been moved to Table 4.3.11a. This happened because of human error during conversion to accessible files.

We have corrected an error in Table B6B_2: Current account : Transactions with non-EU countries [note 1], seasonally adjusted (£ million) The previous version had incorrect titles above the CDID description for trade series in columns B to AE. The data in these columns are for Imports, the previous version stated Exports of goods and Exports of services.
