Statistics are most often revised for 1 of 2 reasons:

  1. For certain statistics initial estimates are released with the expectation that these may be revised and updated as further data becomes available.
  2. Revisions may also be made when methods or systems are changed.

These types of planned revisions should not be confused with errors in released statistics, which are genuine mistakes. Such mistakes occur rarely and, when they do happen, corrections are made in a timely manner, announced and clearly explained to users in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (Principle 2, Practice 7).

We have corrected a presentation error in our UK Economic Accounts datasets, affecting editions from July to September 2021 to January to March 2025. The previous versions of tables 3.1.7, 3.2.7, 4.3.8a, and 4.3.11a used the incorrect series. Table 3.1.7 now uses the correct series for dataset identifiers FV2W and FV2X. Table 3.2.7 now uses the correct series for dataset identifiers FV2S and FV2T. Dataset identifiers FZRQ, FZRS and FZMB have been moved from Table 4.3.8a to Table 4.3.8. Dataset identifiers FZOL, FZOO, and M9TK have been moved to Table 4.3.11a. This happened because of human error during conversion to accessible files.

An error has been identified in the UK Economic Accounts publication reference table spreadsheet. This error is isolated to the spreadsheet presentation only. The following affected are all within the worksheet 7.1.7 Non-financial Accounts: Rest of the world. ESA 2010 Sector S.2 Affected series are FHLW - Investment grants, receivable (D.92r) FHLX - Other capital transfers, receivable (D.99r) RPXR - Capital transfers, receivable (D.9r) FKNS - Investment grants, payable (D.92p) FKNT - Other capital transfers, payable (D.99p) RPXT - Capital transfers, payable (D.9p) RPXP - Changes in net worth due to gross saving and capital transfers (B.101g) FNTS - Acquisition less disposals of non-produced / non-financial assets (NP) RQCH - Net lending / Net borrowing of the non-financial account (B.9N) The affected publication editions are: UK Economic Accounts: October to December 2023, UK Economic Accounts: January to March 2024, UK Economic Accounts: April to June 2024, UK Economic Accounts: July to September 2024
