A small error occurred in the Balance of payments time series dataset due to incorrect data being published. We have corrected this error. You can see all previous versions of this data on the previous versions page. We apologise for any inconvenience.

A minor processing error has been identified and corrected in the current account balance as a percentage of GDP data and associated references in the bulletin. The error affected 2017 and 2018 quarters up to and including 2018 Q3. The error was due to a processing issue and did not affect the underlying current account balance or GDP estimates or any other outputs within the release.

An error has been identified within the Trade in services by country split and impacts Table C within the Balance of payments, UK: April to June 2019 publication tables, as well as the corresponding time series. This was caused by a processing error within trade and does not affect the whole world totals for trade and the current account.
This error has resulted in small impacts to the EU/Non-EU country split for trade in services, total trade in goods and services as well as the total current account for EU/Non-EU country split for the whole time period (1999 to 2019 Quarter 2) only. Total trade in services and all other data in this release are not affected. The data have now been corrected.
