  • UK Environmental Accounts: Low Carbon and Renewable Energy Economy Survey: 2014 final estimates

Final results from the Low Carbon and Renewable Energy Economy Survey on the low carbon and renewable energy economy in the UK, including direct and indirect activity, employees and turnover.

  • UK Environmental Accounts: UK onshore wind sector, 2014

Estimates of activity in the onshore wind sector in 2014 based on results from the 2015 Low Carbon and Renewable Energy (LCRE) Economy Survey.

  • UK Environmental Accounts: UK nuclear power sector, 2014

In 2015 the ONS launched a new survey collecting data on the Low Carbon and Renewable Energy (LCRE) economy. The first high level results were published in December 2015. In order to produce timely estimates and be responsive to demand for greater detail, this is the second in a series of sector specific articles prior to final results scheduled to publish in May 2016. This article provides estimates of activity in the nuclear power sector in 2014.

  • UK Environmental Accounts: UK Solar Photovoltaic Sector 2014

This is the first in a series of sector specific articles using results from the Low Carbon and Renewable Energy Economy Survey. This article provides estimates of activity in the Solar Photovoltaic sector in 2014.

  • UK Environmental Accounts: How much material is the UK consuming?

Estimates of material consumption in the UK from 2000 to 2013, taking the extraction of raw materials and physical imports and exports into account. It explores how much material is consumed per person and shows how material consumption relates to economic activity (known as ‘resource productivity’). Comparisons with European estimates are also presented.

  • UK Natural Capital: Ecosystem accounts for farmland (Experimental Statistics)

The first experimental farmland physical ecosystem accounts, being compiled for different habitats to incorporate natural capital into the UK Environmental Accounts by 2020.

  • UK Environmental Accounts: Low Carbon and Renewable Energy Economy 2014, First Estimates

This report presents results from the first UK Low Carbon and Renewable Energy Economy Survey (UK LCRE) for the reporting year 2014. The survey provides details of the low carbon and renewable energy economy in the UK. Results are given for 6 low carbon business groups (low carbon electricity, low carbon heat, energy from waste and biomass, energy efficient products, low carbon services, and low emission vehicles) at the UK and regional levels (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). The groups can be further subdivided into 17 low carbon sectors. Sector level data will be made available during 2016.

  • UK Environmental Accounts: 2015

Satellite accounts to the main UK National Accounts measuring the contribution of the environment to the economy, the impact of economic activity on the environment, and society's response to environmental issues.

  • Greenhouse gas emissions: 2013

Estimates of greenhouse gas emissions in 2013, for which UK residents and UK-based businesses are directly responsible (whether in the UK or overseas). These estimates have been produced on a consistent basis with the UK's national accounts and provide an important indicator for the environmental pressure caused by the UK's economic activities. Main findings show that greenhouse gas emissions in 2013 were estimated to be 2% lower than in 2012, and 23.6% lower than in 1990.
