You asked

Please could you provide information relating to zero hour contracts in the city of York, particularly in the area of transport & delivery (including food delivery, parcel/post, public transport).

We said

Thank you for your request.

Estimates of the number of people in employment on a zero-hours contract are available from the Labour Force Survey (LFS), which is a survey of people resident in households. We do not produce these estimates at local authority level due to the small sample size.  Estimates are produced at regional level (including for Yorkshire and The Humber) and are published as part of the labour market release, which can be found on the Office for National Statistics (ONS) website:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/datasets/emp17peopleinemploymentonzerohourscontracts

We provide a bespoke service for analysis that is not already published on our website. Special extracts and tabulations of data are available to order (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs, where appropriate). Such enquiries should be made to the customer services team of ONS's Social Surveys Division (socialsurveys@ons.gov.uk).

Another route would be to access the anonymised LFS datasets at the UK Data Service if you are able to run your own analysis. Data can be downloaded free of charge for non-commercial purposes but if charges are applicable, you will be notified during the ordering process. Details of how to access the data can be found here: http://ukdataservice.ac.uk/get-data/how-to-access.aspx.

However, as noted above, below regional level the LFS sample size is small and it may not be possible to produce quality estimates at the level of detail you require.
