Thank you for your enquiry concerning pension wealth in the UK (Ref: FOI/2025-2615).

We estimates pension wealth based on data collected as part of the Wealth and Assets Survey (WAS). Please note that the latest estimates cover the period April 2020-March 2022 and are for Great Britain rather than the United Kingdom.

The requested information would need to be created involving specialist statistical expertise. We could produce an output for you via our bespoke services route, subject to disclosure controls, resources, legal frameworks, and an agreement of costs, in line with our charging policy

For any queries regarding bespoke wealth analysis and an estimate of the cost to produce and please contact wealth.and.assets.survey@ons.gov.uk.

We also provide WAS data under End User Licence (EUL) via the UK Data Service (UKDS) which can be accessed here: EUL WAS Data. Again, please email wealth.and.assets.survey@ons.gov.uk if you'd like further information on using the dataset and restrictions around commercial use.Thank you for your query regarding young people, NEETs and economic inactivity.

We publish UK estimates, based on the Labour Force Survey (LFS), of labour market information for young people as part of our regular monthly release on Employment in the UK. This includes a breakdown of labour market status by age and educational and labour market status for young people. As part of this release, we also produce a breakdown of economic inactivity by reason

Each quarter we produce a release on Young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) giving UK estimates broken down by age group.

On Nomis we publish estimates, based on the Annual Population Survey (APS), of regional labour market status by age, along with a regional breakdown of  economic inactivity by region, which includes an age breakdown. This dataset would allow you to produce estimates for East Midlands and West Midlands of the reasons for economic inactivity of 16 to 24 year-olds in each of those regions.

We also publish on Nomis, from APS, a breakdown of economic inactivity by age and of economic inactivity by reason for local geographies.

We do not routinely publish statistics on economic inactivity by age and reason for geographies below region. It would be possible to request a tailored analysis to be produced for Liverpool Combined Authority, by contacting our social surveys team. There may be a charge for this service, depending on the amount of time taken to develop the analysis and undertake quality and disclosure control processes. Given the size of estimates at a regional level, this analysis may not produce data of a usable quality.

While ONS produces and publishes estimates for NEETs at a UK geographic level, as a devolved subject matter, responsibility for NEET statistics below the UK level falls to the Department for Education (DfE) for England and each of the devolved administrations for the other countries of the UK. Consequently, DfE produce their own NEET publication covering more detailed geographic areas in England. Queries regarding NEETs in England for regional and local geographic areas should be directed to DfE's Post-16 statistics team.
