FOI ref: FOI-2023-1311

You asked

I am interested in Work Trials (also known as Job Trials) which were adopted in 1990. I wish to know:
(a) How many unemployed persons nationwide applied and were accepted for a job trial under this scheme since its introduction.
(b) How many of these were subsequently taken on the payroll of the company.

Thank you for your query.

The Labour Force Survey (LFS) can provide estimates of the number of people who are long-term unemployed, and their age. However, we do not hold information on Work/Job Trials described in your request.

The Department for Work and Pensions may hold data more suitable to your requirements. Their FOI team can be contacted at freedom-of-information-request@dwp.gov.uk.
