You asked

I was wondering if there is ward-level data on unemployment and average income figures for London for each of the past 48 months. If this is not available or cannot be provided, data at the borough level (for London) and the time period for which this data is available would also be helpful.

We said

Thank you for your query regarding unemployment and income figures for London.

We do not hold unemployment information at ward-level between censuses.

We estimate unemployment for local authorities, including London boroughs using a model based on claimants of unemployment related benefits and responses to the Annual Population Survey, a survey based on interviews with people resident in households in the UK. The results are published quarterly for a rolling 12-month period.

The latest estimates, for the 12-month period October 2023 to September 2024 were published in Excel format as part of our product LI01 Regional labour market: local indicators for counties, local and unitary authorities. That page also provides a link to historical Excel spreadsheets.

You can also access these model-based unemployment estimates for local authorities from our Nomis website, which allows you to produce a historic time-series.

Every two years we produce income estimates for small areas for England and Wales from the Family Resources Survey conducted by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The latest estimates, for 2020, were published in 2023.

DWP produce more extensive results from the Family Resources Survey and may be able to help you further with this part of your query.
