The UK has traditionally been an attractive destination for Singaporean students and skilled migrants. Data obtained from the Office for National Statistics suggests a growing Singaporean community, with an estimated population of 40,000 recorded in 2013. Recent anecdotal evidence also suggests that there have been shifts in the city of relocation for Singaporean immigrants in the UK. In order to provide adequate support for these overseas Singaporeans, it is useful to ascertain the size and distribution of the Singaporean community in various cities across the UK.
Available information made online provide information on the number of Singaporeans who obtained visas per year. However, we require more detailed information. We would therefore like to seek your assistance in providing the following data for the past 5 years (2010-2014):
Number of new successful visa applications made by Singaporeans from 2010 to 2014 broken down by the various visa schemes (eg. Tier 1, Tier 2, Study visas)
Total number of Singaporean nationals in UK from 2010 to 2014 broken down by the various visa schemes
Main occupations of skilled migrants from Singapore
Number of conversions from prospective entrepreneur/student visas to Tier 1, 2 or 4 visas
Number of conversions of visas to UK citizenship
A breakdown of the aforementioned data by cities or counties within the UK would be greatly appreciated. Only aggregate data is requested.
