You asked:
I would like to know violent crime per % of population in the UK for the years 2020-2025 inclusive. Which demographic perpetrated the most by percentage of population.
We said
Thank you for your request.
We produce statistics from two main sources; the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and Police Recorded Crime (PRC) data from the Home Office, which concerns crime as it is experienced by victims or as it is recorded by the police.
The CSEW remains the best estimate of long-term trends in violence with and without injury, domestic abuse, sexual assault, and stalking against people aged 16 years and over living in private households. Incidence and prevalence rates for violence with and without injury for England and Wales are published in tables A2 and A3 of the CSEW appendix tables for YE March 2020, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The CSEW annual supplementary tables provide additional data on experience and perception of crime which include breakdowns of personal and household characteristics for YE March 2020, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The supplementary tables also provide data on the prevalence of domestic abuse and harassment for YE March 2024 and 2025, with sexual assault and stalking provided for YE March 2020, 2023, 2024 and 2025. CSEW data are not available for YE March 2021 or 2022 owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Homicide and offences involving weapons are not covered by the CSEW, but are well recorded by the police. Table 5a of the YE June 2025 CSEW appendix table provides data on PRC by offence group.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) are primarily responsible for data on offenders and publish statistics each quarter which may be useful to you. In particular, the Criminal justice statistics quarterly contain Outcomes by offence data tool: June 2025 which allow you to filter on crime type and by individual characteristics.
If you require further data on this subject, it may be useful for you to contact MOJ directly at CJS_Statistics@justice.gov.uk.
