FOI reference: FOI-2025-3185

You asked

I am requesting a breakdown of the total number of vehicle speeding offences recorded (offence count) across the UK, as well as the measured speeds and vehicle make. We want to know how many speeding offences there were that exceeded 112mph

We request the data for the period 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025 (or the most recent 12-month period that you can access).

To confirm, please provide me with a CSV (or Excel) table listing every recorded speeding enforcement where a speed was recorded (camera capture, traffic officer issue or TOR) between 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025, including these fields:

  • date
  • time
  • location
  • vehicle manufacturer
  • recorded/measured speed (mph)

If you cannot provide the full table, please provide:

  • the number of recorded speeding offences where the measured speed was greater than 112 mph (same date range as above or most recent 12-month period)
  • and the total number of recorded speeding offences (any speed in the same period)

Thank you for your enquiry.

We do not hold data on the number of vehicle speeding offences recorded in the United Kingdom.

The Department for Transport (DfT) hold data on vehicle speeding offences in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). Their latest published data – for the year ending December 2024 – can be found in their Vehicle speed compliance statistics release. The DfT can be contacted regarding these data via: roadtraff.stats@dft.gov.uk.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) hold data on vehicle speeding offences in Northern Ireland. Data for the same time period – the year ending December 2024 (though more recent data are also available) – can be found in their Motoring Offence Statistics for Northern Ireland release. The PSNI can be contacted regarding these data via: statistics@psni.police.uk

If you have any crime-related queries in the future, please email crimestatistics@ons.gov.uk and we will endeavour to help.
