Please supply the following information on vaccine preventable disease breakthrough cases/vaccination failure events from England and Wales from 1990 until 2020.

Hib/MenC Vaccine

MMR Vaccine

Please supply:

The total amount of reported breakthrough cases of a vaccine preventable disease in a vaccinated individual, can be partial or fully vaccinated to be included in the value.

The total amount of reported breakthrough cases of a vaccine preventable disease In an unvaccinated individual. This value must only include unvaccinated individuals.

Reported death rates for all the vaccine preventable diseases these listed vaccines are effective against, again for vaccinated and seperately unvaccinated individuals.

Vaccine preventable disease deaths

We do not hold vaccination records for the vaccines listed in this FOI request. The National Immunisation Management service and NHS Digital may be better placed to answer your enquiry. NHS Digital can be contacted via email at enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk.

Our NOMIS webservice can provide mortality data not including vaccination status by 5 year age group where the following deaths can be selected by name or ICD-10 code.

Data is available from 2013 to 2020.

  • Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b)
  • Polio
  • Tetanus
  • Whooping cough (pertussis)
  • Rotavirus
  • Meningitis B
  • Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
  • Meningitis C.
  • Measles
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Selected neoplasms --including cervical, mouth, anal, throat.
