You asked

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I request all statistical information that has been gathered in relation to the vaccination status of all COVID-19 related hospitalisations, intensive care casualties and fatalities.

I would also like to request any statistical information relating to the vaccination status of new cases of Covid-19 infection that have been discovered throughout the year of 2021.

We said

Thank you for your request.

Deaths

We hold the following analysis, Deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status, England: deaths occurring between 2 January and 2 July 2021, which provides deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status that occurred between 1 January and 2 July 2021 in England.

This publication includes weekly age standardised mortality rates for deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status and a detailed analysis of deaths involving COVID-19 which occurred in fully vaccinated individuals. Table 1 shows Count of deaths involving COVID-19 and percentage of all deaths by vaccination status, England, deaths occurring between 2 January and 2 July 2021

This is the latest data we hold; however, we are planning a future publication as we obtain more data. The publication date will be announced on our Release Calendar.

You can find the number of deaths involving adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccination (not restricted to first or second vaccination) in table 12 of our Monthly Mortality Analysis dataset,

There are currently four deaths registered with the aligning ICD-10 codes for this (U12.9). The latest data available is August 2021.

Hospitalisations

Unfortunately, we do not hold the data involving hospitalisations or patient care plans involving Intensive care admittance after receipt of the COVID-19 vaccination.

NHS Digital or Public Health England (PHE) may be better placed to answer your enquiry. They can be contacted via email at enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk and wn_coronavirus@phe.gov.uk respectively.

Public Health England also publish a weekly surveillance report looks at the impact on hospitalisations, infection, vaccine effectiveness and mortality, which may be of interest: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1019992/Vaccine_surveillance_report_-_week_38.pdf

Adverse reactions to vaccination not resulting in fatality

The Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority publish the Yellow Card Scheme, which records self-reported adverse reactions to vaccinations. For further information on the Yellow Card scheme, please contact the MHRA at info@mhra.gov.uk

If you have any further queries relating to this data set, please feel free to contact Health.Data@ons.gov.uk.

Vaccination status of new COVID-19 cases

The COVID-19 infection survey (CIS) is a household survey which refers to the number of current COVID-19 infections within the community population; community in this instance refers to private residential households and it excludes those in hospitals, care homes or other institutional settings.

You can find the number of people with a new positive infection after vaccination on tab 1a in the dataset accompanying our technical article on positivity after vaccination.
