You asked
I am looking into the following unitary authorities:
Bassetlaw District Council
Kingston upon Hull City Council
Doncaster
East Riding of Yorkshire Council
North East Lincolnshire
North Lincolnshire
West Lindsey
East Lindsey
Do you have data on population (urban/rural), age distribution of the population (urban/rural), and percentage unemployed (urban/rural) for these areas?
We said
Thank you for your enquiry about population, its age breakdown, unemployment and the urban/rural split for the following local authorities (LAs):
Bassetlaw District Council
Kingston upon Hull City Council
Doncaster
East Riding of Yorkshire Council
North East Lincolnshire
North Lincolnshire
West Lindsey
East Lindsey
The attached table lists the LAs’ population by single year of age taken from the mid-2016 population estimates published in June 2017.
We do not publish LA estimates by rural/urban split but it is possible to create estimates for this by using output area (OA) data from our small area population estimates cross referenced to LAs using the rural/urban classifications and the look-up files available in the ONS open geography portal. This could be produced as an ad hoc enquiry but this would attract a charge (see Social Analysis Charge Rates through this link).
Unemployment data for these LAs can be found on the NOMIS website where you can tailor enquiries to your exact specification (there’s a ‘Needs Help’ button if you require assistance). Looking at the data for Bassetlaw, the unemployment figures below the ‘All People’ level have small sample sizes so it may be that dividing the figures any further (such as for a rural/urban split) would not be possible. We publish a range of Labour Market statistics.
When accessing any of our files please read the 'notes, definitions, terms and conditions' contained within them.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us on pop.info@ons.gov.uk.
