Thank you for your request.

Data on the demographics of video game console users in the UK and average time spent on playing video games in the UK are available from the Economic Wellbeing team in ONS. Please find below datasets that provide information on how people have spent their time during the coronavirus pandemic. The data are for Great Britain and those over 16 years of age.

Unfortunately, we do not hold information on market research reports for the video games industry in the UK or the total revenue of apps in the Google App Store under the category of 'Games' in the UK.

For revenue in the video games sector in the UK, please find attached 2 datasets from The Annual Business Survey (ABS) between 2008 to 2019. The ABS does not hold income data on the video games sector as specified in the FOI. We do however hold turnover data relating to "video distribution" and "publishing of computer games". The regional data are also provided which gives the same information for Wales.
