You made a freedom of information request for the breakdown of ethnic backgrounds for all people living in the UK (for both sexes) and the breakdown of the number of children born to UK residents. You specifically asked for the breakdown to include Anglo-Saxon and Caucasian groups.
We do not use the classifications “Anglo-Saxon” or “Caucasian”. We do publish information on ethnic groups from the 2011 Census for England and Wales.
The Nomis table finder (https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/census/2011/data_finder) is a good way to explore ONS information on ethnicity. From here you may find the following tables:
QS211EW - Ethnic group (detailed) - a detailed breakdown of classifications, available from the Nomis webpage: https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/census/2011/qs211ew
LC2101EW - Ethnic group by sex by age - a breakdown by sex, available from the Nomis webpage: https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/census/2011/lc2101ew
We do not have information on the number of children born to UK residents by ethnic group. You may however be interested in the tables:
DC2116EW - Ethnic group of dependent child by sex - available from https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/census/2011/dc2116ew
DC1203EW - Dependent children by ethnic group of Household Reference Person (HRP) by age - available from https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/census/2011/dc1203ew
In these tables, a dependent child is any person aged 0 to 15 in a household (whether or not in a family) or a person aged 16 to 18 in full-time education and living in a family with his or her parent(s) or grandparent(s). It does not include any people aged 16 to 18 who have a spouse, partner or child living in the household.
Please note that in all of the above tables, in order to protect against disclosure of personal information, records have been swapped between different geographic areas. Some counts will be affected, particularly small counts at the lowest geographies.
