Could you please provide a breakdown of the UK population by postcode area? That is, the population in each post code area throughout the UK. For example, broken down by age, and by individual postcode area such as 1 year olds in TW1. 2 year olds in TW2.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
We (the Office for National Statistics) conducted the Census for England and Wales. National Records Scotland (NRS) and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) conduct separate Censuses for their countries.
We produce population estimates to the geographic level of postcode area as part of the Census for England and Wales.
The most recent ONS estimates on this topic for England and Wales can be found in the Census 2011 data, using the NOMIS webservice.
For estimates of the population in the UK by age, sex and postcode area, see the brown 'Data downloads' box on the Nomis homepage, click 'Query data'.
Then click 'Census 2011', and click 'Local characteristics' to see a drop-down list of datasets.
Please select table 'LC1117EW – Sex by age'.
Then, from the 'Make selections' box on the left-hand side of the screen select the specific variables required.
Click the 'Geography' selection, and then you'll see a list of geographical breakdowns.
You can click on 'postcode areas' and tick which areas you wish to find estimates for.
Once the required area(s) are selected, adjust other variables using the 'Make selections' box.
In 'Sex', you can click both 'male' and 'female' to see a sex breakdown.
In the 'Age' selection, you can tick for which ages you would like to see data.
Please note that the estimates break down by single year of age up to and including age 24. From ages 25 and over, you will see that estimates are by 5-year age bands.
When the required variables have been selected, download the table using the 'Download Data' link under 'Get your data'.
