Please could you provide a graph or simple spreadsheet with the total deaths in the UK for 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022.

Please see the associated download named “UK Deaths by year and constituent country from 2018 to 2022”. This provides mortality for the UK from 2018 to 2021, and England and Wales only for 2022.

We are responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. 

In collaboration with NRS and NISRA, we produce headline mortality data in our Vital statistics in the UK publication. The latest update of this publication shows deaths registered in the UK for 2019 to 2021. 2022 data for all the constituent countries will be published in December 2023.

2022 data for England and Wales only is available via the following publication: Deaths registered summary statistics, England and Wales.
