We only hold top-level COVID-19 mortality data for the whole of the UK, broken down into constituent countries. This is available via the following publication: Deaths Registered Weekly in England and Wales.
However, we are primarily responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales, driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. Therefore, we do not hold the requested COVID-19 data for the whole of the UK broken down by age and pre-existing condition. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively to request this data for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
COVID-19 deaths in England and Wales:
The following datasets provide weekly COVID-19 deaths by 5-year age group for England and Wales: Deaths Registered Weekly in England and Wales.
Our Deaths involving COVID-19 in England and Wales publication provides information on COVID-19 deaths with pre-existing conditions by age and sex from March to June 2020. On our Monthly Mortality Analysis publication, there is a specific data set for Pre-existing conditions of people who died due to COVID-19 in England and Wales., which provides the number of people who have died from COVID-19 with no pre-existing conditions. You will find this information in table 2 of this dataset. This publication currently has data for 2020 only but will be updated with data for January to March 2021 on 22 May 2021.
