We estimate the number of people employed in different occupations in different geographic areas using the Annual Population Survey (APS).
Occupations are classified in line with the Standard Occupational Classification 2010 (SOC2010). Under SOC2010 Artists are classified to Occupation group 3411 – Artists.
We publish estimates of the number of people employed in occupation group by region on our interactive webservice, called NOMIS, in a dataset looking at occupation by region by sex. Please see the following link to access this:

As with all sample surveys, the APS has a margin of sampling variability. Where possible quality measures are included when producing an output from the NOMIS website.
