We are responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland.
In collaboration with NRS and NISRA, we produce headline data published in the Vital Statistics Publication referenced in your FOI on an annual basis. We will publish Vital Statistics in the UK 2021 in December 2022.
In case it is of interest, finalised English and Welsh data will be published as part of the Deaths registered series in July 2022.
