Total deaths in the UK 2013, 2019, and 2020
Please refer to the following previously answered FOI request, which provides the information we hold on the total number of deaths in the UK in 2013, 2019, and 2020:
The table provided shows the total number of UK deaths each year from 2000 to 2019. The section at the bottom of the webpage beneath the heading '2020' provides the provisional total of all deaths registered in 2020 in England and Wales.
Provisional totals of deaths occurring in Scotland and Northern Ireland need to be obtained from National Records Scotland (NRS) and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).

Daily deaths
In order to provide daily deaths from all causes for January in 2020 compared to January 2021, we would need to create bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.
When 2020 data is finalised in July 2021 and published in our Deaths Registered Series, 2020 data will be available to request as a custom output. This will be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs, where appropriate.
Such enquiries would fall outside of the Freedom of Information regime and should be made to: Health.Data@ons.gov.uk.
