You asked

Is it possible to know how many £1million pensions holders there are in the UK? (i.e., people with pension pots that are £1million or over) utilising your most up to date data?

We said

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.

Using results from the Wealth and Assets Survey Round 7, covering the period April 2018 to March 2020, it is estimated that 1,103,000 people had a pension pots equivalent to £1 million or more. Source data and notes on the methodology for this estimate can be found in the associated download named 'Individual pension wealth top decile'. Adding the 'Weighted Total' for rows 7, 8 and 9 in sheet titled 'Table_2' will give you the figure.

Please note, this estimate is for Great Britain rather than the UK, so does not include pension wealth in Northern Ireland which is not covered by the Wealth and Assets Survey.  Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) can be contacted at info@nisra.gov.uk.
