Can you please provide a historical time series of the BoE’s gold (government reserves) holding to the present day, including any amounts held offshore and in the United States?

Thank you for your enquiry.

Please click on the link to view time series data showing the ‘Monetary gold’ balance as published in the UK annual Blue Book publication. This time series goes back to 1987 - https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/grossdomesticproductgdp/timeseries/nlvr/ukea

Please select the .CSV or .XLS option to view the full time-series.

The series can be viewed in table format by following the this link - https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/grossdomesticproductgdp/compendium/unitedkingdomnationalaccountsthebluebook/2018/supplementarytables

Please select the general government option from the list of datasets and it is table 5.1.11 where you can view the monetary gold balance (series NLVR).

Please note that we do not produce data relating to where the gold is physically held. I would suggest approaching the Bank of England to see if this is information they collect and publish.
