We have published figures for suicides where gambling was mentioned on the death certificate for deaths registered between 2001 and 2016. These figures were produced via our user requested data service.
If you would like an update to this dataset, you can request it by contacting via email at Health.Data@ons.gov.uk. Information on the number of suicides where gambling was mentioned on the death certificate for deaths registered between 2017 and 2024, along with other special extracts and tabulations of mortality data for England and Wales are available to order, subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs.
As deaths due to suicide are referred to a coroner for investigation, we are still in the data collection process for suicides registered in 2025. More information on this can be found in our Impact of registration delays on mortality statistics publication.
As this information is reasonably accessible via another route, Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies.
