Please provide the number of suicides by place of occurrence in England and Wales, by region and by gender for the period 2008-2017.
We said
The number of suicide deaths in English regions by sex since 1981 is available in Table 7 of the Suicides in the UK dataset. Whilst the equivalent data for Wales is available for all persons in Table 1 of the Suicides by local authority dataset. In both tables, the geographical areas are based on the place of usual residence of the deceased, which may not be the same as the place at which the death occurred.
The information by place of death is available to order subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs, where appropriate). As the only information that can be provided is already available to you via this route, we consider that s.21(1) applies to this request and the information does not have to be supplied under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act.
