Thank you for your query regarding mortality statistics. You asked us to provide deaths by suicide in the United Kingdom between 2000 and 2015 by parliamentary constituency split by age and sex. As you are aware ONS publish Suicides by UK, presenting data at the constituent country level, however we do not hold deaths registration data for Scotland and Northern Ireland at the level of parliamentary constituency. For these data you will need to contact the National Records of Scotland: http://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/ and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency: http://www.nisra.gov.uk/ respectively.

We hold death registration data for England and Wales by cause of death. On our website there is a dataset which details suicides by parliamentary constituency in England for deaths registered between 1999 and 2013 which may provide some of the data you require:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/causesofdeath/adhocs/005722suicidesbyparliamentaryconstituencyengland1999to2013

If you require further data we recommend that you contact the Mortality Analysis team directly in order to discuss your data requirements in more detail. Special extracts and tabulations of mortality data for England and Wales, including the calculation of mortality rates for specific causes, are available to order (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs, where appropriate). Such enquiries should be made to: mortality@ons.gov.uk.

As this information is already available to you via this route we considers that s.21(1) applies to this request and the information does not have to be supplied under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act. s.21(1) is an absolute exemption and no consideration of the public interest test needs to be applied.
