I would like to know the suicide rates over the years since 2004 to 2024, and if possible the reason behind the suicides as well as a number list of death causes being ranked from highest to lowest in those years.

We hold mortality data which is collected through the death registration process in England and Wales. This enables us to publish regular statistics on suicides occurring in England and Wales. The reasons for a suicide occurring are not routinely included in death certificate information. We therefore do not hold statistical information on reasons for suicide.
Our annual suicides release provides data on suicide rates in England and Wales back to 1981 as part of the accompanying dataset (See table 1). The latest data goes up to suicides registered in 2024.
Data on the leading causes of death can be found in our ONS Death registration summary statistics, England and Wales: 2024 publication. The accompanying dataset provides further information on this in Table 3.
