You asked
I would like to request information in relation to domestic violence cases during the year 2017-2018, that involved South Asian citizens living within England and Wales. I am particularly interested in those from a Bangladeshi background.
We said
Thank you for your enquiry in which you asked for statistics about South Asian citizens who have been victims of domestic violence.
Figures relating to your request were prepared in response to a similar enquiry that was submitted in August 2018. Crime statistics published by us generally relate to victims of crime rather than perpetrators. The estimates provided are based on available data from the Crime Survey for England Wales (CSEW) and provide the percentage of women who were a victim of any domestic abuse and who were born in the South Asian countries. Due to small sample sizes it is not possible to provide estimates of domestic abuse victims born in Bangladesh on its own. The full response can be found here:
Data on domestic abuse-related prosecutions are held by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), who may be able to help you further. You can contact them at: enquiries@cps.gov.uk.
If you have any crime-related queries in future, you can email CrimeStatistics@ons.gov.uk and we will endeavour to help.
