Please provide the figures of workplace harassment within recent years, with recent years I would like to go as far back as 5 to 6 years ago.

  • Additionally, how many people report sexual harassment in the workplace for both Men and Women - this is the statistic that I would like to receive out of the exhaustive list present in the request.

  • Statistics for Men who report Sexual Harassment

  • Statistics for Women who report Sexual Harassment
  • How many people (both men and women) leave/quit/resign from the workplace after being sexually harassed.
  • How many cases go unreported - this statistic is not on the urgent end of the exhaustive list in my request.
  • Statistics of both men and women who receive dismissal after an incident has happened.

Thank you for your request.

Unfortunately, we do not hold any information on sexual harassment in the workplace.

Our main sources of data on crime statistics are the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and police recorded crime. The CSEW is a victimisation survey asking households about their experience of crime in the previous 12 months.

Police recorded sexual harassment offences would be coded within the harassment offence category.  These data are published in row 65 in Appendix table A4 which are released along our quarterly Crime in England and Wales bulletin.

Unfortunately, we do not hold further breakdowns of these data, and are therefore unable to specifically separate out sexual harassment offences. Police recorded crime data is sent to us from the Home Office. If you contact them directly at CrimeandPoliceStats@homeoffice.gov.uk, they may be able to help you further.

In August 2021, we published the statistical bulletin Perceptions of personal safety and experiences of harassment, Great Britain: 2 to 27 June 2021. This bulletin contains analysis of people's perceptions of safety and experiences of harassment, by personal characteristics, based on the Opinions and Lifestyle Survey (OPN). Table 3a within the accompanying dataset contains analysis of the questions asking respondents if, in the past 12 months, they have experienced specific types of harassment including 'Experienced catcalls, whistles, unwanted sexual comments or jokes from a stranger in a public place'.
