From the data collected in the 2019 census rehearsal are you able to tell me the average annual salary for Powys/Radnorshire? The figures I am finding online do not include self-employed and I need them to be included.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding average annual salary in 2019 in Powys/Radnorshire, including self-employed figures.

Unfortunately, the Census rehearsal did not collect any information about salaries. This means that the only earnings information available that we have for Powys/Radnorshire is for employees only, from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) which you may have referenced already.

ASHE is the most comprehensive source of earnings information in the United Kingdom, which is based on a 1% sample of employee jobs taken from HM Revenue and Customs' Pay As You Earn (PAYE) records.

We do not collect information on salary that includes the self-employed for Powys or Radnorshire geographies. The closest data available are for employee annual earnings in the parliamentary constituency for Brecon and Radnorshire and local authority for Powys. Median gross annual earnings for these geographies for 2019 (the latest period for which ASHE estimates are available) can be found in Table 1.

Parliamentary constituency earnings information can also be found in ASHE Table 9 on our website: https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/earningsandworkinghours/datasets/placeofworkbyparliamentaryconstituencyashetable9

and local authority earnings information can be found in ASHE Table 7: https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/earningsandworkinghours/datasets/placeofworkbylocalauthorityashetable7
