If an ONS AO graded employee works overtime, do they receive payment at an enhanced rate and what is that rate?
Overtime is voluntary, but if employees are required to work overtime they must be given at least 48 hours notice. Overtime cannot be worked without the prior agreement of line management and all subsequent claims must carry a signature of authorisation.
Rates of payment for overtime for AO graded employees are: - Monday to Friday - Time and a half
- Saturday - Time and a half + Saturday premium
- Sunday - Double time
- Public Holiday - Double time
(For overtime worked on a Saturday an additional premium is paid. The premium is paid at half-plain time rate.)
