The index and annual percentage changes for the Retail Prices Index (RPI) excluding alcohol are shown in the associated download named Retail Price Index (RPI) excluding alcohol from 2000 to 2022.

Please note that the RPI is not a good measure of inflation, at times greatly overestimating and at other times underestimating changes in prices. The RPI does not meet the required standard for designation as a National Statistic, more details about this can be found more details can be found at National Statistics.

In recognition that it continues to be widely used in contracts, we continue to publish the RPI. However, we strongly discourage its use.
