You asked
Please could you provide the following Census data:
Variable: the number of people who live in each Lower Layer Super Output Area (LSOA) in England and work in each other LSOA in England, broken down by National Statistics socio-economic Classification (NS-SEC) category (i.e. for every ordered pair of LSOAs in England, and every NS-SEC category, the number of people in that category commuting from the first LSOA to the second LSOA, including flows from one to itself). This is exactly as contained at https://wicid.ukdataservice.ac.uk/cider/info.php?datatype=105, but with origins and destinations at the LSOA level rather than Middle Layer Super Output Area (MSOA) in England, and (optionally) only origins and destinations in England.
Year: 2011. Please use 2011 LSOA boundaries.
Please use the most detailed NS-SEC classification available. Please also include people with quasi-workplaces, just as in the linked data above.
If you do not hold this information, what is the finest level of geography for which it is available? And are there other public bodies that may hold it?

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.
Unfortunately, we do not hold the exact dataset you requested, and you have already identified the closest match in the above link. Standard outputs that detail origin-destination data are typically produced as single variate tables only and show MSOA commuting to MSOA as the smallest level of geography.
However, you may be able to commission a bespoke table that details the exact information you have requested at the LSOA geography, from the Commissioned Tables team.
We have spoken with our Commissioned Tables team to understand what level of detail is feasible in line with your request. The team have advised that we may be able to produce a bespoke table that shows origin destination data through the local authority of residence, commuting to LSOA of workplace. Because of Statistical Disclosure Controls, the geography for residence would need to be provided at local authority level, and it is likely that the detail of NS-SEC would also need to be condensed.
If you would like to request a dataset, please complete the request form in the previous link.
This does come at a cost and there is currently a short waiting time in production once the form has been submitted. However, all tables are subject to Statistical Disclosure Control methods so this could cause a short delay.
