The mortality data we hold comes from the information collected on the death certificate and collated by the Local Registration Service in England and Wales.
The General Register Office (GRO) (part of Her Majesty's Passport Office) oversees civil registration in England and Wales. Suicide registrations are included with all death registrations. The database used to register deaths is not held by us but by the GRO and I would therefore refer you to the following;
