I would like to receive the following information: Registered all cause mortality for England between 01 January 2023 and 31 May 2023 for each ethnicity group and their vaccination status.

Thank you for your request.
We are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from death certificates at death registration.
Unfortunately, we do not hold analysis relating to all cause mortality for England between 1 January 2023 and 31 May 2023 for each ethnicity group and vaccination status.
Currently ethnicity is not captured on the death certificate, ethnicity is self-reported information collected by the Census.
Therefore, in order to provide the data requested, we would need to create new information involving statistical expertise and experience to link and then manipulate the raw data held into the requested information. This would involve undertaking complex linkage of mortality data to the self-reported census data to capture the ethnicity breakdowns. We would also have to conduct further linkage of mortality data to National Immunisation Management System (NIMS) data to derive the vaccination status.
Following this, a statistician would then need to rigorously quality check and tabulate the data to create new information.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), public authorities are not obliged to create new information to answer requests. This information therefore is not held.
