Unfortunately, we are unable to provide access to raw data, as this is considered personal information. Section 39 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (SRSA) makes it an offence to release personal information. Personal information is any information held by the Board for statistical purposes that would identify an individual or a body corporate. This includes individuals that are deceased. Because disclosure is prohibited by another enactment, Section 44 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies.
However, we do hold the following analysis on births, which may be of use to you:
- Births in England and Wales - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk) data is available from 2012 -- 2019
- Births by parents' characteristics - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk) which provides Annual live births in England and Wales by age of mother and father, type of registration, median interval between births, number of previous live-born children and National Statistics Socio-economic Classification (NS-SEC). Data is available form 2019 -- 2014
- Parents' country of birth - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk) which provides annual data on live births in England and Wales by parents' country of birth. Data is available from 2019 -- 2007
- Births in England and Wales: summary tables - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk) which provides Annual summary statistics on live births and stillbirths, by sex, age of mother, whether inside marriage or civil partnership, percentage of non-UK-born mothers, birth rates and births by mothers' area of usual residence. Data is available from 2019 -- 2008.
- Our NOMIS Webservice will also provide Live Birth data, including rates at local authority level, live births by sex and characteristics of mother, live births by characteristics of mother and father, and live births by small geographical area.
