Your Producer Price Indices Quality and Methodology Information (QMI) Section 6 refers to methods used to compile Producer Price Index (PPI) data. Within the price data section, it is stated that energy (including crude oil) is compiled from data sourced from the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

  1. Please confirm if this is correct and that the data set includes one solely for Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO). If not we would seek confirmation of the other materials and proportions which make up the data set sent from ONS in relation to energy.

  2. Please confirm what information is provided to Building Cost Information Service (BCIS) in relation to energy and specifically Heavy Fuel Oil. Is this data solely based on Heavy Fuel oil and if not what other materials and proportions make up the data set.

Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) data is included in the data delivery that we receive from the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

We deliver to Building Cost Information Service (BCIS) index values for a wide range of Producer Price Indices (PPI) monthly. Included in this are two indices, with the identifiers HKPP and HKPM, which relate to fuel oils on an including and excluding duty basis respectively.
