You asked

Please can I have access to raw data sets that reflect the prevalence of male victims of abuse?

Do you have any data showing how overtime there has been an increase of violence towards men, by women?

Are there any crime statistics that prove more women murder children then men?

We said

Thank you for your enquiry.

We publish data from two main sources: police recorded crime and the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Data on trends in domestic abuse from both data sources are collated in our annual Domestic Abuse in England and Wales overview.

These data are published on a financial year basis (year ending March) in our Domestic Abuse Prevalence and Victim Characteristics dataset.

Table 3 has breakdowns of prevalence of domestic abuse by sex of the victim from 2004/5 to 2023/24 using data from the CSEW. This could be useful for looking at trends over time. However, this does not include the sex of the perpetrator.

Additionally, we publish analyses using data from the Home Office Homicide Index. Tables 22b and 22c in the same release shows statistics on domestic homicides of those aged 16 and over in England and Wales, including sex of the victim and relationship to the perpetrator. Information on sex of the perpetrator can be found in tables 22f, and 23.

Finally, we publish other analyses of data from the Homicide Index which includes the homicide of children. Our latest release provides statistics from 2013/14 to 2023/24. This is published by age and sex of the victim in worksheet 4. The relationship to the suspect, for victims under age 16 can be found in worksheet 16, however this is not disaggregated by sex of the suspect. Additionally, worksheet 31 shows homicides by sex and age of the suspect.

As Homicide Index data are collated and provided to us by the Home Office, they may be able to provide further data to assist with your query. Please contact them at: crimeandpolicestats@homeoffice.gov.uk
