You asked
Please provide me with information for the following;
total numbers of pregnancies ether year by year, or every 3 - 5 years between 1967 and 1980-81.
total numbers of inductions of labours per year, between 1960 and 1980-81.
If inductions of labour have been differentiated by i) ARM, ii) buccal pitocin or iii) oxytocin infusion, these are of interest also.
outcomes of inductions of labour - means of delivery such as normal, forceps, emergency Caesarian.
post-partum haemorrhage following induction of labour - if these have been separated from other post-partum haemorrhages, I would like the breakdown, but if they have been retained as one statistic for all births or all live births, that is still helpful.
if there is a breakdown on the size of post-partum haemorrhages (PPH) and any perceived relationships to PPH such as maternal parity, that would also be helpful.

Thank you for your recent query.
We bring together records of birth registrations and abortion notifications to produce conception statistics. Conception statistics do not include conceptions resulting in miscarriages or illegal abortions. A time series from 1969 to 2015 containing the number of conceptions and the conception rate for all women resident in England and Wales can be found here:
Prior to 1969, the first full year for which abortions data are available, the number of conceptions was equivalent to the number of maternities. Maternity data can be found in table 1 of our birth summary tables:
We do not hold any information on the delivery aspects of births; this is available from NHS Digital.
Other special extracts and tabulations of birth and conception data for England and Wales are available (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreement of costs, where appropriate). If you would like any further information, you can contact the team directly at: vsob@ons.gov.uk
