I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the number of Portuguese citizens and individuals born in Portugal residing in South Oxhey, which is part of the Three Rivers district. I understand that the 2021 census data may contain relevant information regarding this demographic.

Specifically, I would like to know:

  1. The number of individuals who are Portuguese citizens currently residing in South Oxhey.
  2. The number of individuals who were born in Portugal and are currently residing in South Oxhey.

Thank you for your freedom of information request.

The Census does not collect data on citizenship specifically, but passports held is often used as a proxy.

Census 2021 shows that 231 usual residents in South Oxhey ward were born in Portugal (including Madeira and The Azores) and that 285 usual residents held a Portuguese passport. Where a person recorded having more than one passport, they were counted only once, categorised in the following priority order: 1. UK passport, 2. Irish passport, 3. Other passport.

The create a custom dataset tool enables users to make their own datasets combining variables of census topics down to small areas.
