You asked

I am investigating whether human population density in different UK cities has affected parakeet populations in the hope to inform invasive species management.

I can only find data for between 1981 and 2010 and then 2021 with a gap between 2010 and 2021.

Do you have this data or know where I could find it?

Thank you for your freedom of information request.

This Excel file provides 2011 Census population density for all built-up areas and built-up area sub-divisions in England and Wales.

Built-up areas are areas in England, Wales and Scotland that have urban characteristics and include settlements such as villages, towns and cities. The 2022 built up conglomerations and built-up areas are based on Ordnance Survey's Open Built Up Areas dataset, and are new enhanced versions of the 2011 Census built-up areas (BUAs) and built-up area sub-divisions (BUASDs) respectively. There are some notable improvements and changes that mean the 2022 built up areas should be considered a new geography and not a continuation of the 2011 Built-Up Areas or 2011 Built-Up Area Subdivisions. This means statistics produced for areas with the same name are not directly comparable.

This information has been downloaded from nomis. Nomis is a service run on behalf of the ONS by the University of Durham.

Although the UK censuses historically take place on the same day they are run separately by each National Statistics Office (Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency (NISRA), National Records of Scotland (NRS), and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) for both England and Wales).

The ONS is only responsible for the census for England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland carry out their own census, their contact details are provided below.
